All the planning. All the anticipation. Excitement. Nervousness; Will she figure it out? Will she say yes? Kai, with the amazing help from The Heart Bandits, who plan wow factor proposals all over the world, was set to pop the question on Saturday, December 18, 2015. What could go wrong?
Well, when you’re planning a surprise proposal in Santa Monica, by the beach, where the idea is to be casually walking down the boardwalk only to suddenly have a group of dancers spring out around you, choreographing their movements to the tune of the fiance to be’s favorite song, RAIN kind of puts a damper on things, not least of which, plausible rationality for a casual stroll down a deserted boardwalk with rain rarely seen in Los Angeles coming down. (Apologies for the run on sentence!)
Be that as it may, it didn’t stop our hero from carrying out his mission- and while she may have known he was up to something, it was still a ton of fun to watch; tho admittedly, not altogether AS fun to film, having to protect stationary cameras from the elements while being “incognito.” Yeah, she knew what was happening for sure, but check it out anyway, and TRY to get the song out of your head afterwards.
I think it’s worth adding, while I started out filming weddings, when I chose my business name, (On Bended Knee Films, duh :)- the art of the actual proposal, signifying the initial commitment to give yourself to one person for the rest of your lives, always captivated me a bit more. Everything after that moment becomes, to an extent, a formality. Filming this flash mob proposal, rain notwithstanding, reminded me of that, and was just an absolute joy to witness, not to mention capture on video. I look forward to filming many more in the coming months.

Dana and Jesse got married at Lot 613 on September 4, 2015. This was a one of a kind day that exemplified everything unique and spunky about this couple; not least of which was Jesse’s surprise solo performance DURING the live ceremony, where he sung a newly written song for his new bride (so new he never had a chance to rehearse it prior to singing it to her and everybody in attendance, while playing the piano keyboard). After that it was a full blown karaoke wedding, though to see those highlights with live audio, you’ll have to track down Dana and Jesse and ask to see the full version on the DVD.

Mayra and Estuardo got married on August 15, 2015. Amazingly sweet couple on a beautiful summer day in Los Angeles. Also had a great time working with Art Taylor and his team of photographers.

Katie and Jacob got married on the 4th of July, two years to the day after their first date! It was intimate, unique, and so much fun; I mean, what wedding in a massive backyard full of every lawn game known to mankind wouldn’t be?? 🙂
The giant “family tree” was a super originally cool touch as well.

Tiffany and Nick got married in the Presidio of San Francisco, at a Log Cabin just beyond the Golden Gate Bridge. The background was so amazing it almost looks fake. Beginning with lawn games, and ending with a taco truck and frozen ice cream, this was a wedding night to remember; and happened to coincide with the Manny Pacquio Floyd Mayweather fight. (Random memory)
Being a Los Angeles based Videographer, it’s always fun to head up the coast and film in Northern California. San Francisco is an amazing city so filming here is always a blast. With the amazing setting, drone coverage was added to this Diamond package, which already came with 3 cameras and 2 Videographers for the entire event.
So here’s an original wedding film, for a very original couple. 🙂
PS-The day went smoothly thanks to many fellow vendors. First and foremost, Nichole, at 2FriendsEvents, planned the day and made sure it ran smoothly, and in conjunction with DJ Aaron at Amos Productions , who was also great to work with. Logan Cole also made teamwork a priority with his team of photographers, which is always a win win for us, and more importantly, Tiffany and Nick!
